First Consultation
The first consultation will include a combination of selected treatments as described below.
Chiropractic is a natural and drug free approach and may require follow up treatments. These will vary depending on the patient’s condition.
During the first consultation the patient can expect the following:
- A complete health history will be taken. This will include the family, medical, surgical and traumatic history of the patient.
- The chiropractor will then start the physical examination which will include general, physical, orthopedic and neurological tests. These tests will determine muscle strength, joint function, nerve function as well as body balance and alignment. During the examination, the doctor will determine if x-rays or other tests are necessary.
- Once the problem has been diagnosed a treatment plan will be recommended. Treatment generally consists of highly specialised manipulative techniques often referred to as adjustments.
Treatment will include a combination of any of the following:
- Chiropractic manipulation of the subluxated/misaligned joint
- Myofascial trigger point therapy
- Dry needling
- Kinesiotape
- Cross friction massage
- Sports massage
- Hot\cold therapy
- Ultrasound
- Interferential current (IFC)
- Stretching and strengthening exercises
